Lost pets find home with help of new website
Lost pooches and pets will have a better chance of being reunited with their owners with the launch of a new national website this week.
The website, DogLost.com.au, has been set up to encourage pounds to cross-check animals to reduce the staggering number of beloved pets that are put down each day.
Pet owners from all areas of Australia can list a lost or found pet on the website, using DogLost as a complementary method for reuniting pets with their owners.
DogLost.com.au founder Kylie Mervin says the volunteer-run website will be an easy-to-access resource for both the public and rescue groups.
“This is the first Australian database created where people can list and search for their pet by council/shire” Ms Mervin said.
Ms Mervin hopes to get all pounds and rescue groups using the database by the end of the year.
